First Performance
A John Darling, P.I. novel
Kent S. Brown
In 1981, movie star Gil Williams returns to his home town of River Bend to take part in a charitable performance to help the financially strapped community theater. During the first performance, Gil collapses on stage in front of a full house. Friends, family members, and professional jealousies are all suspect.
In the audience is P.I. John Darling. He suffers from chronic insomnia and at the time of Gil's death has only one client he refers to as The Ghost. To help the River Bend Police, who have helped him a time or two over the years, John investigates the crime to find a murderer.
Kent S. Brown is a traveled writer. He has hiked Great Britain, walked the midnight streets of London, bent his elbow in more than one Irish pub, and made his way across Europe on a night train to Leipzig. He lived in California and Florida before settling down in Green Bay to be closer to family.
